News UNVEILING THE YOUNG WINNERS OF JERNEH FRIEND OF GREEN MALAYSIA SHORT FILM COMPETITION IN STYLE 'Promoting environmental cause through a 50secs short film and creativity' Kuala Lumpur, 6 Aug - Risk management specialist Jerneh Insurance Berhad, as part of its efforts to raise awareness about environmental protection, has announced the winners of 'Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysia Short Film Competition'. Judges final selection resulted in Muhammad Danial as winner for Category One while Mohd Afiq Deen topped Category Two. The winners each received the top prize of RM 3,000, a trophy and a certificate of recognition from Mr. Lim Sun, CEO of Jerneh Insurance Berhad and Datuk Ahmad Rejal Arbee at the 'Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysia Short Film Competition' prize giving ceremony held at GSC Pavillion Kuala Lumpur today. Jerneh Insurance had spearheaded this community initiative between April till June in order to encourage students aged between 16 to 23 to be environmentally conscious and produce a 50-second film dedicated to the theme of 'Energy Conservation'. The competition allowed filming using mobile phones and other multimedia devices. The competition for this year was divided into two categories: Category One for ages 16 to 18 years and Category Two for ages 19 to 23 years. Networking tools such as Facebook pages were utilized to facilitate students' interaction as well as a platform to share their opinions about energy conservation which up-to-date has 100 members. Muhammad Danial and Mohd Afiq Deen, who competed against 20 other short listed entries in the finals were picked as winners by the judging panel as their short films were unanimously declared the most impactful and creative. The judging panel comprised representatives from Jerneh Insurance, EduSmith, media specialist Essence Communications and MENGO. Second placed winners are Nik Nazneen Nik Md Yusof (Category one) and Abdul Hadi Muslim (Category two) clinched a cash prize of RM 2,000, trophy and certificate with their entry entitled 'Energy' and 'It's Worth the Energy' while third place went to Schaun Mohan (Category One) and Quek Shio Chuan (Category Two). They won RM 1,000 with an entry that gives a clear message towards energy conservation. Congratulating all the winners, Jerneh Insurance CEO, Mr. Lim Sun, said; "This competition is a medium to educate secondary school and college age students to appreciate the environment as well as the importance of its protection. We need to continue raising awareness of environmental protection as it is the future generations who will benefit and who better to deliver the message than these fine young filmmakers with their creative approaches." The Chairman of VC Publications, the publisher of Edusmith, Datuk Ahmad Rejal Arbee was also present at the prize giving ceremony and commended the competition as an ideal initiative to inspire teenagers to think outside the box in order to raise awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources and protecting the environment. The 'Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysia Short Film Competition' was also supported by environmental NGOs under the auspices of MENGO, who provided support as resource centers and enabled the participating students to benefit from the NGOs expertise and vast resources through their existing research on energy conservation. Radio 24 and Bernama TV meanwhile were the media support for the competition. The short listed entries comprising 20 will be uploaded onto the Jerneh Insurance corporate website so that the public can view the creative works of these young talented people.
CONSERVE ENERGY WITH JERNEH INSURANCE BERHAD THROUGH SHORT FILM Kuala Lumpur, 23 Apr - Risk management specialist Jerneh Insurance Berhad is calling all students aged between 16 and 23 to take part in the 'Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysia Short Film' competition launched today. The theme for this year's competition is 'Energy Conservation'. With global warming and climate change gaining center stage as a worldwide issue, Jerneh believes that students can create massive impact in energy conservation and environmental appreciation by creatively communicating the urgent need. As such, the insurance pioneer has established the 'Jerneh Friend of Green Malaysian Short Film Competition', where students will be required to conceptualize and produce a 50-second short film based on the theme 'Energy Conservation' with basic audio-visual devices like video camera or mobile phones. The film can be produced in any format based on the guidelines given. Students are then required to upload the finished product onto the corporate website, to be evaluated by a panel of judges. Networking tools such as Facebook is utilized to facilitate students' interaction as well as a platform to share their opinions about energy conservation. The competition which is unique in its approach, is supported by higher education and career pathfinder, Edusmith magazine; which has been an instrumental in providing ground support for this campaign by getting as many schools and colleges to participate in the competition. The top six winners stand to win cash prizes, trophies and certificates of recognition. The top three will win RM 1000, RM 750 and RM 500 respectively. The winning entries will be recognized at an award ceremony scheduled for July, which is also the month in which World Environment Day is celebrated. "Global warming has gained much awareness over the years. Hence, it's timely to educate the public on the ways of reducing this effect. This includes energy conservation", said Jerneh CEO, Mr. Lim Sun. He also added, "Jerneh also ensures efficient and responsible consumption
of energy throughout our company's business operations and services as
part of our efforts to protect the environment." Jerneh is working with environmental NGO such as MENGO, Malaysia Nature Society (MNS), Yayasan Warisan Alam (YAWA) and WWF-Malaysia who will act as resource centers and allow the participating students to benefit from the NGOs expertise and vast resources through their existing research on energy conservation. All participants can work in groups or individually to produce the film
which can be in Bahasa Malaysia and English. The closing deadline for
the competition will be on June 15, 2009.
JERNEH INSURANCE BERHAD PARTNERS WITH AAM New partnership introduces AAM J2U KUALA LUMPUR 25 MARCH - Risk management specialist Jerneh Insurance Berhad is set to market its latest product AAM J2U together with Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) today. AAM J2U is a comprehensive Motor Insurance Policy which has specifications based on and complying with the Malaysian Motor Tariff. This was officially announced today at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AAM chairman YM Tunku Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha and Jerneh Insurance Berhad CEO Mr. Lim Sun. The MoU seals the agreement that the policy will be exclusively marketed by AAM. AAM J2U will provide benefits such as door-to-door insurance and road tax service, free accident assist kit, accident assist, post repair inspection and post repair warranty. The policy is valid for Malaysia-wide coverage including Singapore and Brunei. AAM members will also be given option to purchase Jerneh's driver and passenger personal accident policy - Drivecare PA, apart from AAM J2U policy. "The signing of MoU advances the partnership between AAM and Jerneh Insurance Berhad by launching AAM J2U which will give AAM members greater benefits without any hassle. The policy itself is comprehensive yet affordable for members to insure their vehicle," said Mr. Lim Sun.
